Forever-safe Bicycle

Posted: 29 Feb 2012 04:57 AM PST

I am sure you agree with me that prevention is better than cure. Therefore prevention of theft is better than hunting down stolen property. Based on this application we have a bicycle lock that deters theft in a very clever way. The pedals double up as wheel clamps and are designed such that breaking the lock (or pedal) will not only be a tough job but also a foolish endeavor. Superb!

Fixated on the 'i' prefix, we have here a projector dock that streams videos to a screening wall and plays all your iMelodies via the iPad, iPhone and iPod. Sounds really awesome and 'magic' right? With the current Apple buzz in the market I'm sure this iDevice will get all the attention….now!

Metaphysical Immersion

Posted: 29 Feb 2012 12:08 AM PST

Michaël Harboun’s Transcendz concept brings together the ideas of augmented/altered reality, Brain Computer Interface (BCI) and social networks, Transcendenz offers to live immersive philosophical game-experiences. Through meditation, users access the world of Interconsciousness, a white and silent social network in which they can connect themselves to the philosophical game-experiences. By transforming our perception of the world, these experiences invite us to reflect upon our world, our life and ourselves.

Fascinatingly Simple – Part Deux

Posted: 29 Feb 2012 12:03 AM PST

From one of my favorite designers, Robert van Embricqs, the Rising Table is the latest in a series of sculptural furniture elements that are not only functionally genius but also aesthetically fascinating. Like the rest of the Rising Series, the table utilizes a unique slat-folding technique to transform from a flat piece of seemingly solid wood to a fully functional table with an intricate web of wonderful angles and angular shapes that are a signature of this remarkable designer.

The Tool Trike

Posted: 29 Feb 2012 12:01 AM PST

Designed to maximize efficiency in industrial workplaces, the Tool Trike provides a lightweight, eco-friendly and easy-to-use way of lugging around small (but often cumbersome and heavy) equipment from area to area. The structure is made of a durable carbon fiber compound and features a trunk capable of carrying most hand tools and other frequently used objects.

No Ordinary Scale

Posted: 28 Feb 2012 11:57 AM PST

I never think of food scales needing to be redesigned but gone are the days when one could leisurely walk into a deli or butcher shop and discuss the finer details of food while waiting for their meats to be prepared. We live in a hyper fast reality and that means just enough time to get in and get out. The Avery Retail Scales bring touchscreens, RFID tags and wireless goodies to the table but does it make for a better experience?

What’s it do? In a nutshell, you have a food scale with a detachable, wirelessly connected touchpad that can offer up suggestions on foods and flavors that compliment each other. You’d be surprised how many people don’t understand which wines best accompany a salmon steak. I sure didn’t until guess who told me? Yes my local fishmonger. But that’s just one person who can’t possibly split their time between all the customers in line. This device can also detect RFID chips in food packaging. All this information is supposed to give shoppers collective and instant access to the experienced recommendations of the sales staff along with cooking tips, sales, current offers, health and nutrition info.
